The South Pacific Passive House Conference is held alternately in Australia and New Zealand, in conjunction with Passive House New Zealand (PHINZ), and features presentations, workshops, site tours and networking opportunities. Following a highly successful New Zealand SPPHC 2019 in Wellington, SPPHC 2020 is coming to you for the first time ever from Sydney!
We hope you will join us for what promises to be a landmark event. Stay informed by visiting our conference website where you can take advantage of some fantastic ticket offers, subscribe to updates, and get in touch with any questions.
Held in Sydney and soon to be Melbourne to date, this very popular event offers the opportunity for a line up of presenters to showcase their real-life Passive House project in order to share their experience of what has and hasn't worked. Offering insights, successes and challenges from across the industry. Past events have focussed on the perspectives of architects, builders, researchers and owners. The Exchange will also offer a platform to ask others in the PH community for advice.
The purpose of this event is the exchange of knowledge so that we may all help each other achieve the collective mission of better quality buildings. The discussion is guided and it isn't a platform to promote or pitch projects or specific products.
Each speaker will have 10 minutes to speak followed by 10 minutes of Q&A time. If you would like to showcase your project at a PH Exchange event please get in touch at email@example.com
Site tours have proved a very popular event and we have held these in Sydney and Melbourne to date. If you would like to open your Passive House project for an APHA Site Tour please get in touch at firstname.lastname@example.org
Facilitated by facilitated by Andy Marlow (APHA, Envirotecture) this popular one day workshop is aimed at PHPP Beginners.
Here's what one happy Sydney trainee had to say about the course - "Really fantastic as a refresher following the designer course - was easy to understand - would definitely attend something similar at an intermediate level - and recommend this to anyone interested both prior and post the designer course."
The workshop focuses on taking a sketch design for a single house, use DesignPH & SketchUp to create geometry for import into the Passive House Planning Package. Data will be manipulated within PHPP to assess initial project feasibility.
Attendees will learn how to translate sketch design into a functioning PHPP model
Assess feasibility swiftly with PHPP modeling
An understanding of the structure of PHPP
An understanding of the key worksheets that enable project viability to be understood at an early stage.
An understanding of Passive House is required while some familiarity with PHPP (familiar with interface) & SketchUp basics would be useful but not critical.
Attendees will need DesignPH, SketchUp and PHPP v9.6 loaded on own laptop.
Prices per ticket

The Costs of Passive House - What's it worth?
The benefits of Passive House are well known but the costs remain an mystery to many. This project has been priced seven ways by four contractors. What are the cost implications of Passivhaus? Is it all about the windows? What is the premium for air tightness? How to builders price risk? How much does a Passivhaus cost in 2019?
Andy Marlow - APHA Board Member and Strategy Working Group Leader, and Director and Architect at Envirotecture.
